Kauai Surf Break
This is Silas's new trick a few weeks ago. I had left him on his belly on the blanket and when I came back he had rolled over this far off the blanket. I think that's at least 2 rolls worth. Pretty good for 3 1/2 months

He was very proud of himself as you can see!

Eli is the best big brother ever. He is very loving and gentile with Silas. And protective too, as we learned the other day. He likes to walk up to Silas in the Jumper and press the button that makes sound. Silas is so in love with his brother though that he would rather just stare at him then look at the flashing lights.

Eli with my flops on.

So we got some paydoe for his birthday and I decided to get it out and give it a try. At first he didn't know what to do with it. Then I sugested that we make an apex (excavator) and he was all for it. Then we spent the rest of the time making repairs and fixing the wheels.

Daddy and Si taking snooze...zzzzz.....zzzz

The other day Uncle Pat called early in the morning and asked if Eli was awake. I said "yes, he is, he's watching his bulldozer movie" So Uncle Pat said that he wanted to surprise Eli and show him his dump truck.

Like most of us in life...we are always a bit apprehensive when faced with reality.
Eli loves the little version...but the big version is something he is working on.

Finally daddy came out and got inside. This was enough for Eli...he was sold. It he went. I was glad that he got over the hugeness and was able to enjoy himself. The rest of the week has been lots of talk about Uncle Pat and the dump truck.

Brothers!!!

Sadly this is probably one of the last days of us at the pool. Summer is being dumb and not sticking around. Maybe we'll get one more day...if not, that's ok.
We had a super blast this summer.

Michelle and Chad came over with Adrian and played with us for a while. Adrian is like Eli's twin. Its so crazy how much alike they are. The other day we were all in the car and as soon as we left the driveway both the boys said at the same time "Go that way." Jeff and I looked at each other and just started cracking up. This is what it would be like if we had twins we thought.
It was like we were in the twilight zone.
They are good buddies though and really enjoy each other's company.

Eli brought Silas a 2 course meal, Strawberries and tomatos.
Silas is so lucky to have a brother that loves him so much!

As the days slip by I wonder where all the time goes. The days are full with what seems to be an endless vortex of tasks, and most nights I just seem to play catch up so that when morning comes I'm at least not completely in the red. Both my kids are good nappers so I do get a good chunk in the afternoon that is just for whatever. But even that gets sucked into the vortex of house chores and other misc. things that I can only do when the kids are asleep. Today during nap time I laid down...but didn't sleep...for 30 minutes, then got up and worked on the bills, I found out soon that Eli had never really gone to sleep but had instead been up playing. He got sent to bed and I sat down to read for a bit. Though every 5 or 10 minutes I had to tell him to get back in his bed or to go to sleep. This is so weird...he usually takes a 3 hour nap. So the reading was good but very choppy. But at least I got that.
Silas slept 6 hours the other night and 5 hours the night before that. I think thats pretty good for 4 months. Eli was not even close to that when he was that age. I thinks its funny how my perspective is now focused on how much I get done during nap time and how much sleep I get at night. Two very important chunks of time that are undoubtedly crucial for my sanity.
Silas is also rolling all around and talking up a storm. I wish I new what he was saying because it sounds just hilarious. Eli is doing really well. Today he asked me if he could get his balls out and bring them outside. I said sure and he went and got them. Then he asked me to open them. So I did. Then I put the bag outside with the zipper open. He then said, "Thank you" and dumped them out. That was the first time I think I had ever heard him say thank you without us having to tell him. It was very sweet. He is speaking in sentences and really loving being able to tell us everything that's on his mind. He is just the smartest kid ever. He's some photos from the last month or so.

Last photo of the boys with Grama B and Uncle Matt before they headed back to NH

Eli plugging his ears..I don't know why.

Silas loves to fall asleep with the blanket completely covering his face. I remove it after he's out. But it's pretty funny. This has been how he's been falling asleep the last few days. I'll lay him in on our bed on his back and then put the blanket over him just enough so he feels it on his face. He's out it like 3 minutes.

So after we dropped my mom off at the airport we headed to Cashmere for the High School retreat. It made me miss my days as a high school leader. I wish I could live at camp forever!

"Cabin Time"

Eli snoozing at the beach.

Waking up! Notice the bulldozer. Yeah and if that thing was a blanky it would be the stinkiest blanky in all the world. He takes that bulldozer with him everwhere he goes...sleeps with it..takes it to the bathroom...everywhere Eli goes the bulldozers goes with him.
It's like its a part of his soul.

Our tent was set up next to a tree that had exposed dirt. He positioned his construction sight just so and then went to work.

Always lots of sound effects too. Notice the lips.

Cashmere Pool

Nappy time at the pool.

Si Pi doing his morning potty!

And more work for the bulldozer that had to get done.

We had a Community Group BBQ a few weekends back.
Fun in the water and lots of yummy food!

And there's the bulldozer...or as Eli calls it "bulby"

At our friends house. Here's Eli and Noah negotiating pool procedure.
Sometimes it was what toys go in the pool other times it was how many rocks went in the pool. This is the only photo I have of them with there clothes on. The rest of the day they were naked running around the yard like bunch of houlagins.

We went inside for one second and came out to find them stealing beer from the fridge.

We told them to put it back.

Yeah I think it was like 1 billion degrees outside. So this was our solution.
"POOL PARTEY"

Silas keeps creeping his way off the blankets when he wakes up. He had butted his head against the door. He had no where else to go. He's was happy though. It was really funny

Chillin like a villin in the pool

Noah came over for Eli pool party. It was not 1 billion degrees though so the water was not so enticing.

I love when Eli gives Silas toys. The red airplane is also a new favorite. Thanks Stenwicks!

Silas loves tummy time.

Oh My Gosh. This is what Silas does every morning when he wakes up. HUGE smiles. It's the sweetest thing ever.

"Love you SiPi"

About me

Hi I'm Kim. My husband Jeff and I live in Kauai with our 4 boys. I mostly love sunshine, coffee and surfing. So Kauai really works well. We came here and opened a non-profit coffee shop call Ha Coffee Bar. It's taken me some time to know my voice but now I'm listening. This is my journal.
You might find me writing about, legos, Minecraft, space, story writing, painting, surfing, coffee, veganism. We also dabble in the minimalist lifestyle and try our best to focus on experiences rather then things!
