I have to give testimony to this because God is so good. Friday night Silas woke up and started barking like a seal. We had all been sick this past week so I new he was due. I went in and new that he had croup. Eli had it when he was little but not as bad as Silas had it. I don't remember it affecting his breathing as bad as Silas had. But for Silas he was truly having a hard time and at times I really thought I should bring him in. But after talking with a few others who had experienced this I knew it was normal. Saturday morning we started giving him steam showers, then taking him outside. Going back and forth for 10 minutes each. I was so thankful that Jeff was home to help care for him because he had to sleep on Jeff's chest in order to breath while he slept. I called my midwife Carol and asked her what to do also. She prayed over Silas over the phone and told me to do this this infusion for him that is a strong expectorant. 5 bags of fenugreek tea steeped in 1 qt of boiling water till cool then mixed with organic apple juice. I just gave him this every hour starting Saturday afternoon or so and noticed a huge difference even that night. His cough got really loose and his breathing was 50% better. (I had never heard a healing of croup that quick).I also had him sleep with me with the window cracked. The room was cool but we were warm under the covers. This was like sitting outside, when his breathing was the best. I would recommend this also...it made such a difference for him being comfortable at night. I truly believe though that God healed him Saturday night after we prayed over him. His fever broke that night also and is breathing has been totally normal since yesterday. He had a fever for a half of yesterday, but we just gave him cool baths and that seemed to bring him back down to 98 degrees. He slept in his bed last night from 5:45 till 6:30, no coughing, no fever. It can be so scary as a mom (and dad) to see you little on so sick. All you want to do is make him better. I am so thankful for prayer and that God is the healer of our Children, and for fenugreek infusion expectorant :)
Thought I would document that Silas is saying things. Sometimes we think we know but most of the time we aren't sure. Last week he was saying Kitty, this week he is saying hot. Though Jeff thinks that he's trying to say Carrot. He has kind of a grunt like noise that he does whenever he tries to say anything though...it's very funny. We love him so!
Eli
1. Eli is very much in a loud, emotional, energetic phase. He is always at a 20 and is quickly lost within his emotions at the drop of a hat. The days when he's just calm and playful are fun and remind me of what a dear sweet boy I have. His vocabulary is thru the roof and he has lately been telling me long detailed stories about everything and anything. He thinks that a big ball or a big egg will get him when we are walking in from the car on the driveway. So he says to himself "the big ball won't get me...there's no big egg coming". I have no idea where he got this from but it's sad an funny all at the same time.
2. Eli is not wanting to eat dinner...ever. We have tried everything. He eats all day long (well kinda) but then dinner is not a special meal so he always hates everything I cook. Partly it's my fault since he does get to eat lots of his favorite things all day long. Now he's gagging himself and saying the bites are too big and it's too hot. Tonight it was broccoli...gagging and caughing...turning red and almost throwing up....over broccoli. He's loved broccoli forever. Not now.
3. On a high note he does have half of his scripture memory memorize already for this month!
4. He's getting so big and I just want to press pause and hold him tightly.
Silas
1. Silas is 11 months on Monday. He's a super fast crawler but could care less about walking. He is poop trained now and if I try hard during the day we work together and I can catch most of his peeps. But it's been really lax and I go a few days with diapers when were busy then back to IPT. He always goes and is fine with it. I think that as he get a bit older he will naturally just be potty trained, like Eli was. I like that I can do it kinda off and on and pretty much get the same results. In fact I've had less potty protests with him because it's been so low key.
2. He is a super big eater and most days he's eating more then Eli.
3. He's started to have these little tantrums. He crawls away mad like 3 step worth, then arches his back and yells, while throwing his body on the floor and knocking his head on the ground. Right now we just think it's hilarious, ahhh but soon....soon...it will be very interesting.
He also knows where the O's are and every day goes to the cupboard and rips them out.
4. He say mamma, dadda, yeee haaaa, and kinda says all done. And I think he wants to say kitty.
5. He's our little pie pie and we love him so!!!! You can tell that he is very thoughtful and sweet...thinking about everything and taking it in. He's also kinda shy.
Baby #3 Soupy-Declared name as of Now!
1. Soupy has a good strong heartbeat, which we heard last Friday.
2. I'm already in love with the little one and can't wait to meet him or her.
3. Soupy really started to kick this week. And of course when I say kick I mean little gentle taps that only I can feel. I don't even bother having Jeff wait to see if he can feel it. In a few weeks it will be more obvious but for now it's just me and baby. I love it when they start moving.
4. Due August 30th
So some of you know that I sold all of my strollers. I also returned my very un-useful sewing machine to Brother for a full refund (this years BIG Christmas present). And when I started to put things together in my mind I knew what I needed to do. Get the stroller of my dreams. For my sanity. Sooo with my Christmas money and some money from slings, I bought this:
A "Phil & Teds 4 In1 Sport Buggy" w/ the doubles kit
This is with both seats in.
Silas is in the double insert seat that can also be put
in the front when you lower the front for a baby.
Ok now Silas's double seat is on top and if you look below you can see the bassinet that the baby with go in for the first month or so. Which is the seat that Eli was in But now lowered completely flat.
From the back of the bassinet..of course the straps won't be there.
So there you you have it. For more info on Phil & Teds you can go to www.philandteds.com and for the best price (believe me we looked for weeks) you can go to www.pishposhbaby.com They have one for sale there or you can get 5% off when you use the coupon: Mom5 exp 8/30/09
