Mangos and Avocados
Yesterday was fun. We have mostly been eating rice cereal and sweet potatos, but soon Eli will be eating lost more veggies so I thought we should start mixing things up abit with the things that he can eat now. Which is avocados, banana's, mango's, papaya, basic mild fruits. So we have been putting the sweet potatos in with the rice cereal and mushing it together.
Yesterday I did that with the avocados and he loved it. Gave me a few funny faces but that's all. Then we tried some mango on its own. This was the first time I just put something on his tray and let him have at it. He ate all of it. So we will be doing mangos a lot more also. Soon he will be eating this thing call Super Baby Porridge, it has all his daily nutritial needs all mushed into one. You combine and blend veggies and then freeze then into cubes(you can make a whole months worth of food in just a few hours). The rice cereal is made every 2-3 days and kept in the fridge. Then all you do is add the cubes, pop in the microwave and serve. I'm glad that we got such a good little happy eater.
Easy Homemade Baby Rice Cereal (6 Months and Older)
1/4 Cup of Organic Short Grain Brown Rice
1 Cup of water
Put the raw rice in a blender and blend on high for 2 minutes(do the full 2 min) then add to the simmering water and stir and cook for 6-10 minutes. This makes 2-3 days worth of baby food.
(...you can also use Millet, barley or oats instead of rice)
Super Baby Porridge
~1/2 -1 Cup of Super porridge cereal
~either one vitamin A Veggie cube or 1 mashed hard-cooked egg yolk (depending on whether it's and egg yolk day) mixed into the Super Porridge
~1/2 -1 teaspoon of brewer's yeast fortified with vitamin B12 into super porridge
~1-2 Super Green Veggie Food cubes
~Vitamin C source (2-4 ounces of juice or 1/2 fruit)
~Perscription vitamin drops and iron supplement drops (if needed)
Mix, warm and serve.....in the book Super Baby Food, she explains what is in the Vitamin A veggie cubes and the green veggie cubes. It was pretty amazing how much veggies you end up feeding your baby!

you know its a bit demeaning that you assume we don't know how to make super porridge cubes...when i raced the Iditarod i built all my igloos out of those cubes...it was warm and delicious...till the night i ran across a school of polar bears, or should i say they ran across me...well needless to say they had plenty of energy to tear my head off, but after eating my igloo they were too full to bother.
ReplyDeletePat's comment was hilarious. He will such a great influence on Eli. (:
ReplyDeleteSuper Baby Food - might try to revise that as an adult recipe. Especially if Pop-Pop and I could look as happy as Eli in the morning!
Enjoyed all the pics, as usual. Instead of keeping an updated album at the library, I just click on the blog to brag about what the Lord is doing in your lives. We all loved the crawling expeditions. Going to visit Tim and Randy on Feb. 16 -19.
So much fun to watch them eat different foods! Noah tried sweet potatoes and he loves them also! Miss you guys already!
