So we are back from our first camping trip. We all had so much fun and it was such a good experience to have for our first camping. I learned that my baby isn't such a light sleeper and that he can fall a sleep and not wake up even when a train is whistling only a few miles away. Eli did great with his naps, which was something I was a bit worried about. Everyone that came was great to help with that too. With 14 people all hanging around a single campsite, I knew that I would have to just let go and go with whatever happened. Having that attitude helped because I had no expectation for him to take any naps, then when he did, I was surprised!! We all took turn cooking and cleaning up. By the end of the trip we were cooking on the fire, more then the gas stoves. This was fun and made it seem like we were Really camping. During the day on Saturday and Sunday we went to the market that fills the entire town. After Eli and Jax would wake up from there morning naps we would get all packed up for the day and head on out. The town was only a half mile down a wooded path. They also had shuttles that we could take. You would never know that it is such a small town of 137 people though because during the Memorial weekend over 4000 people flock to see the all the cool treasures that show up at the market. This was a tradition for Jeff to do as a kid when he was growing up, so it was really cool to get to share this with Eli. I think we are planning on going next year also, Jeff's dad already has the same campsite reserved.
We left on Wednesday and spent the night in Selah with the Kuhns. We went to Caleb's baseball game and watched American Idol. Then left around 9ish Thursday morning for Sumpter to finish the second half of the the 8 hr drive.

This is a funny story....
Jax, "I know, i'll put this truck in this whole."
Eli, "Don't worry i'll go get it"
Jax, "Well...get it in there."
Jax, "I don't know why he's in there."
Eli, "Jax...Jax........Jaxson.....some help please...."
Don't worry I pulled him out...
Back at the Kuhn's Monday evening for a nap, dinner and campfire.

The End!
I have some great videos that I will have posted tomorrow.
These are some of our first shots we have taken on Eli's first camping trip. We have Wi-Fi, surprisingly, so we can post on the blog...he he he. Though this place is pretty remote. Closest store is about 30- 40 min. away. But the RV Park is really nice and clean, with new showers and bathrooms.
This is on our way to Sumpter where we stopped and took a potty break.
Eli helping dada setting up the tent. Eli loved the stakes and played with them for quite some time afterwards. Such a big help!!
So it was in the 70's-80's during the day and then we slept in and woke up to, 25 degrees. SOoooooo cold. So Eli slept with us in the 0 degree bag and was nice a cozy. But oh so busy.... Today he took a good nap of a whole 2 hours and 45 Min...much needed after going to bed at 9:00 and waking up 6:30.
Sitting with grampa cox in the morning by the fire....nice and cozy.
We also took a walk down to the giant flea market that fills the whole town of Sumpter. This was the pre-look because the market is suppose to open for real on Saturday. But we bought some stuff today. Lots to look at for Eli!
Yesterday we went to Fredmeyer and walked around while we waited for a tire on our car to get fixed. Eli loves ridding on daddy's shoulders now. Poor Jeff....he got some drool on his head :)
Then after the tire got fixed, we dropped Daddy back off at work and we went over to baby Eben's house and visited with him. We had a good time eating Jamie's candles, trying to get in the fridge and playing in the Tupperware cupboard. I don't know how but Eli remembers where Jamie keeps her Tupperware and he goes there every time, remembering the exact cupboard.
Baby Eben 3 1/2 Weeks old and already 10 lbs!!!!
Well we are taking off this afternoon for our Memorial Day camping trip with Jeff's family. We will have lots of video and pictures when we get back next Tuesday!
Today Eli took his first steps. Jeff had already gone to church and Eli was playing in the living room with his toys while I folded laundry. I looked up and he was trying to reach for his car that had tipped over. He had things in both hands and I think was confused as to how he was going to grab the car and hold on to his bell and his moracca. He was trying to stand when I noticed that his right leg was stuck, but he kept on trying to stand anyway and then swung the right leg around after he stood up. This was the first time he had ever stood with all his weight on one leg. Then he looked at the car and took a step, then took another. I couldn't believe it. So I set up the camera and moved him to the other side of the room. He did it again and that is what you will get to see. These are his next few steps....maybe steps 3, 4, and 5....he he he....
Eli also put on quite the show at church this morning, taking a few steps for Michelle (our Doula at Eli's birth)
Helping Dada load the car for our camping trip over Memorial. We leave on Wednesday for Sumpter, Oregon, and come back on Monday or Tuesday. We did a test run to see if everything fit, including our Jogger. We got everything in just fine and even have some elbow room.
Eli doing his funny head down thing that he does....then back up for air.
This was so cool...last night he started scooping his food up with the spoon and putting it in his mouth. He has had his spoon for some time now, but has only used it for chewing on. I think he has been watching Jeff and I and decided to give it a try himself. These pictures are one right after the other to show how cool his spoon skills are!!!
Hi I'm Kim. My husband Jeff and I live in Kauai with our 4 boys. I mostly love sunshine, coffee and surfing. So Kauai really works well. We came here and opened a non-profit coffee shop call Ha Coffee Bar. It's taken me some time to know my voice but now I'm listening. This is my journal.
You might find me writing about, legos, Minecraft, space, story writing, painting, surfing, coffee, veganism. We also dabble in the minimalist lifestyle and try our best to focus on experiences rather then things!
