Kauai Surf Break
So these are Eli's new pj's. We got 3 of them and one has footsies. Costco had a great deal going. Plus night time for us is a bit chilly, so these will keep him nice and warm. I think this winter though we are going to burn wood through the night, meaning we stick a big honker in before bed and lockher down. Last year we used the space heater in Eli's room and the rest of the house froze. But we found that it rang up our electric bill. Either way will all be warmer now. I think the other night when we stuck a big piece in before we went to bed it was 70 degrees the whole night...now that's warm and cozy. Oh and we get the cast off tomorrow woohoo!!!

We went on a walk before bed...its getting darker and darker every night so I think this might have been our last after dinner walk....:(

Last night we go to meet Killian. The new member of the Martin Clan. He was so sweet to hold. He slept the whole time with a short wake up to look around and then back on the snoozer.

This is Tanna using the pocket sling that I made her.
Killian doesn't seem to mind the womb like accommodations.

Here's most of the kids, Finnley, Killian, Avery and Mirabella...
Channing and Payton are missing!

Me and Killian

It was dinner time for them so we just held the baby and chatted.

Earlier that day Eli and I had gone for a much needed walk. His molars are bugging him and he is having a hard time taking naps. The fresh air was nice. Once we were done he went right over to his favorite spot to play with Grey and the bark. He wanted Grey to eat the bark, but she wasn't hungry. You can see her a little bit in the flower pot on the left. One of the places she loves to take naps.

This is Eli making his first stack of blocks. Up until now he has only wanted to knock down what I build. But today he decided to build himself. Then of coarse he wants to knock them down right a way. He could only get to four blocks and then he gets too excited and wants to knock them down really fast.

We've had two pretty full weekends. Last weekend my dad came and stayed over. We went to the park, got ice cream at McDonalds and then went blackberry picking. Eli did not care for the swing at the park so Jeff took him down the slide. We could tell that he wanted to run around but just couldn't. It was nice to get outside either way.

Funny picture of Grampa :)

I always pick the peaches that fall to the ground under this peach tree. Later that week we used the peaches to make a peach pie.

Last Sunday people who wanted to get baptized were able to at the
Engstroms house on Kitsap Lake.

Jordan getting dunked by Jeff

Michelle got Baptized also

and so did Crystal.

This is one of many accidents that have happened in front of our house. I am going to start taking pictures so that I can get them to put in a stop sign.
This was on Wednesday I think.

Noah and Angie came to visit for the Weekend ! We had a great time on Friday and Saturday just hanging with the kids. Then on Saturday night the daddies got home from the Husky game and we spent some time together. They stayed till Sunday so they were able to come to church also...though times like this are fun, they seem to end too soon and only make us all wish we lived closer together.

Angie and Eli played with the guitar while Noah took a nap.

Once the boys had there naps we went over to the water park by the ferry.

Noah and Eli eating dinner

This is one of my most favorite things that Eli does. He sits and reads his books like a big boy. Its so precious to see.

To Costco we go!!!

Eli checking his temperature all on his own.

Last week we had Ainsley and Emma over while Bridget was in Labor with Gillian. They kept Eli happy since he was a little sad about his leg. The girls love him so much and take such good care of him. We will miss our Wednesday play time.

Yeah really cute face...he does this when he first bites into fruit.
The Petoffs

So this past week we also went over to the Petoff's for dinner. Riley is so into Eli. She played with him the whole time. Eli loves this cooking set that they have and b-lines for it every time he's over.

Riley and Cloie

We got Eli to give Riley a kiss...
well this is Eli's version of a kiss.

Leg Update

So the update on the leg is that Eli will not have to get a different cast. Dr. Mattern thought that the one that he has on will work just fine for what he needs. He also said that it should be able to come off in about 2 more weeks. We were so excited to hear this. Next week we will do one more x-ray on the broken leg and then put the other leg in at the same time. This way we wont have to do more x-rays then we need to and the Radiologist will get to get a good look at his bones. If things look good then were done. If the density of his bones has some question then we will do some blood work to test for Vit. D deficiency and other stuff. But so far Dr. Mattern really thinks everything will be fine. Such a praise. God is so good!

Well today turned out to be quite the interesting day. And I have to say and end to a very interesting week. Let me start with just a little back ground. Last weekend (Saturday night) I left my favorite water bottle at the Rodeo. So Sunday morning I went to get it and on the way I got a ticket...which really stunk because the water bottle wasn't there when I went to look for it. Jeff's ticket came in the mail the day before that from when we were on vacation last month which was about $300. Yeah...for making a illegal U turn...(remember we were lost and it was like 11:30pm and we couldn't find the Golden Gate Bridge) Yeah so that came and they were so late in sending it to us that we couldn't do anything but pay it. So then on Monday our transmission broke on our car. AAA wouldn't let us get the extended mile plan and use it in the same day...so we have somewhat of a toe truck fee (thanks Uncle Tim for helping with that). After some words with the AAA manager I politely cancel my 8 years of membership and will be writing a letter. That morning Jeff had stepped in dog crap and tracked it all over the house and his NEW sunglasses broke while he was getting in the car. Ok so all that happens and we think it can't get any worse but then on Tuesday we all come down with some sort of viral something and get hit all week with all sort of weird bodily functions. This all leads up to today. Yesterday Eli was playing outside when I heard him cry. He was on the step and was on all fours. I thought he had hit his head so I gave him to daddy since I was on the phone with Carol. That night he was kinda clingy and wanted to be held...which I thought was normal since he had been sick all week. SO I held him all night and kept him comfortable...I even let him sleep with me since he was so sad when he woke up at 2:30 am. THEN...this morning when I went to put him down to walk after he went potty he wouldn't stand on his left leg...just like a dog with a hurt foot. I called Jeff in right away for him to look at it and press around. Then it all hit me...."we hadn't put him down since he fell yesterday"...."He won't put any pressure on his left foot"...hmmmmm maybe he hurt his foot. We just thought he wasn't feeling well and wanted to be held. We called his doctor and Dr. Mattern said that we should get it x-rayed. SO we took him to the ER and to our great shock it was broken. Eli wasn't crying....he was trying to stand and crawl...but then he would whimper and have to sit back down. We were shocked. We looked at the pictures and sure enough, it was broken. We also found out that he had also broken a bone in his foot a few months back which had already started to heal. Right now he has a temporary cast on and on Tuesday he will go get a full leg real cast. Dr. Mattern also wants to do some testing so that we can rule out any bone issues since he has had two fractures in the last few months. Which means more x-rays....which I hate....So pray pray pray. For me for trust in God that He will protect Eli and keep him safe from all the tests. And for Eli that he will continue to have a great attitude about it all and not grow too frustrated that he can't be walking around and moving so fast. Hopefully thing will look up from here. We are sure that God has a plan in all this.

The break is on the bottom of the Tibia right above his ankle
on the left side of the bone.

About me

Hi I'm Kim. My husband Jeff and I live in Kauai with our 4 boys. I mostly love sunshine, coffee and surfing. So Kauai really works well. We came here and opened a non-profit coffee shop call Ha Coffee Bar. It's taken me some time to know my voice but now I'm listening. This is my journal.
You might find me writing about, legos, Minecraft, space, story writing, painting, surfing, coffee, veganism. We also dabble in the minimalist lifestyle and try our best to focus on experiences rather then things!
