Broken Leg
Well today turned out to be quite the interesting day. And I have to say and end to a very interesting week. Let me start with just a little back ground. Last weekend (Saturday night) I left my favorite water bottle at the Rodeo. So Sunday morning I went to get it and on the way I got a ticket...which really stunk because the water bottle wasn't there when I went to look for it. Jeff's ticket came in the mail the day before that from when we were on vacation last month which was about $300. Yeah...for making a illegal U turn...(remember we were lost and it was like 11:30pm and we couldn't find the Golden Gate Bridge) Yeah so that came and they were so late in sending it to us that we couldn't do anything but pay it. So then on Monday our transmission broke on our car. AAA wouldn't let us get the extended mile plan and use it in the same day...so we have somewhat of a toe truck fee (thanks Uncle Tim for helping with that). After some words with the AAA manager I politely cancel my 8 years of membership and will be writing a letter. That morning Jeff had stepped in dog crap and tracked it all over the house and his NEW sunglasses broke while he was getting in the car. Ok so all that happens and we think it can't get any worse but then on Tuesday we all come down with some sort of viral something and get hit all week with all sort of weird bodily functions. This all leads up to today. Yesterday Eli was playing outside when I heard him cry. He was on the step and was on all fours. I thought he had hit his head so I gave him to daddy since I was on the phone with Carol. That night he was kinda clingy and wanted to be held...which I thought was normal since he had been sick all week. SO I held him all night and kept him comfortable...I even let him sleep with me since he was so sad when he woke up at 2:30 am. THEN...this morning when I went to put him down to walk after he went potty he wouldn't stand on his left leg...just like a dog with a hurt foot. I called Jeff in right away for him to look at it and press around. Then it all hit me...."we hadn't put him down since he fell yesterday"...."He won't put any pressure on his left foot"...hmmmmm maybe he hurt his foot. We just thought he wasn't feeling well and wanted to be held. We called his doctor and Dr. Mattern said that we should get it x-rayed. SO we took him to the ER and to our great shock it was broken. Eli wasn't crying....he was trying to stand and crawl...but then he would whimper and have to sit back down. We were shocked. We looked at the pictures and sure enough, it was broken. We also found out that he had also broken a bone in his foot a few months back which had already started to heal. Right now he has a temporary cast on and on Tuesday he will go get a full leg real cast. Dr. Mattern also wants to do some testing so that we can rule out any bone issues since he has had two fractures in the last few months. Which means more x-rays....which I hate....So pray pray pray. For me for trust in God that He will protect Eli and keep him safe from all the tests. And for Eli that he will continue to have a great attitude about it all and not grow too frustrated that he can't be walking around and moving so fast. Hopefully thing will look up from here. We are sure that God has a plan in all this.
