We're back
Well I know that it's been awhile since we have been on the blog, but my computer was out of service for a few weeks and things have been kinda busy. I have missed blogging and think it's funny how I go about my day and look at the kids and think about the blog. I think about how the picture will look and how I would describe it. Or all the things that Eli is doing and how having a blog is such a fantastic place to brag all about my brilliant boys. Then I rationalize it by saying that "oh we have family out of town", but really I just like to brag about my boys and make them famous, even if it's only on there own blog. It makes me laugh. But they fill each day with so much life and joy I love having a place to share that and let everyone know how great we think they are. But, just to keep things real, it is kinda been a hard adjustment with two. Weeks 1-2 were surreal, like a sweet dream. Then Jeff went back to work and reality set in. Silas also got gassy and I wasn't getting sleep. That was weeks 3-6. They Silas's gas went away and we got a king size bed. Now he is 9 weeks old and we have really set into a nice routine and everyone is getting lots of sleep. Silas is such a great baby, with such a calm disposition and he has such a sweet little heart. He is sleeping around 5 straight hours at night and goes right back to sleep after he eats when he does wake up. He started smiling a lot towards the end of week6 and is now almost laughing. He loves to talk and coo, responding to every sound and eye contact you give him. He loves to be held...all the time... Infant potty training has been in full swing since birth and Silas loves to pee outside. All this last week he was holding his potty and wouldn't go in the sink but if I took him to the front porch he would go right away.
Eli is talking in sentences and wants very much be in complete charge of himself. Just tonight after I put him to bed, he got up and turned his lamp on, sat up in bed and read a book. Some of the things he is saying are, "Mama and Dada sit down", "Hold Silas", "Wash hands", "Read a book", "Mama sing song","Go outside". He try's so hard to say what he wants. His world is so easily turned upside down that some days can be really hard. We try hard to talk him through the volcano of emotions that erupt when its "time to go". But it's hard, he is so smart and so aware. It's hard to know how to help him work it all through. He is also slowly, like at turtle speed, getting his two year molars. So some days we have to take that into account. He is no longer needing diapers during naps, just at night. Which I think will be for awhile. In the morning now he comes into our room and always brings a diaper for Silas with him. He comes to my side of the bed and puts the diaper on Silas, then crawls into bed between Jeff and I and says "Sleep. Sleep". Of course he doesn't go to sleep, he just likes to say that and then pretend. Right now he really loves Richard Scary books. Him and Jeff just sit forever and look at all the pictures. When Grammy Faith was here she taught him about Goldbug, a little yellow bug that's hidden on every page, he now can find Goldbug on every page. He points and says "Goldbug". We also got him a bulldozer video from Goodwill for .50 cents. So every morning he gets up and says "Watch bulby, watch bulby." Like 15 times, then after we say no, he moves on to going out side and says, "Go out side" like 15 times. So then after breakfast he gets to go outside and play in his green turtle sand box with is bulby (bulldozer), cement (cement mixer), and apex (excavator). So that's the scoop on the little guys. Here are some photos from last few weeks.

Isabel, Avery and Eli
We took a risk, loaded the car and headed to the drive in. We saw Indiana Jones and then went home. We could have stayed for Chronicles but we were too tired. Eli had a meltdown half way through the movie. We had to shut the hatch on the minivan until be the meltdown was complete. Then he said "Sleep, Sleep" and fell asleep on me.
Jeff got the van all rigged up for the movie. It was so much fun to be all piled in the back with hot tea and popcorn.
Tim to wrestle...Jeff has been teaching Eli about wrestling.
Poor Silas with is neck that wants to sit back. This is getting better, but we still have to take him to the Chiropractor for cranial massage.

Angie had baby Zach last Sunday, 8 lbs 7oz. I was able to be at the birth and to help with the labor. Angie did such a great job, we are so proud of her. I took Silas with me and he was just a perfect little baby.
Welcome Baby Zach!!
Special visit from Aunti and Uncle
This is at the work part at the Days.
It was Uncle Pat's birthday so later that day we came back to celebrate.
Pat and Kristy are adopting a little girl from China and they need have their yard fenced in as part of the requirement for the adoption. So a bunch of the families from the church came over to help move dirt and get ready for the fence to be put in.

Though wonderful!!! The transition between zero to one to two to three to ??? can be hard. You gotta readjust your expectations and accomodate for another person (managing stuff like discipline and cuddle time!) If you need to cry, you can always call and I'll pray for you!! I always remeber you reading the Word to me while I was making breakfast for the boys on vacation - that was the best gift ever!! Be the mom that God wants you to be!! YOUR boys look beautiful! Enjoy - it goes fast!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the sweet pictures and thoughts - another bright start to my day. "This is the day that the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad."
ReplyDeleteSee you all next weekend; I'll be praying for you as you pack & drive. I'm looking for Skin-so-Soft for mosquitos. We found a few musical instruments for Kid's Church!
