BLF for The Si Pi

Silas is 6 Months!!!!

So some of you have been hearing me talk about BLW (Baby Led Weaning) or (Baby Led Feeding) The "weaning" part means that they are just starting to nurse less, I like to call it BLF because it's more about them learning how to feed themselves then it is about them weaning. ...yeah yeah yeah...I know...Something new that I'm super excited about. But I have been finding so many interesting things about it. I'm suprised at how many moms are "doing it". Well except for all the old school moms that are like "yeah so...that's what I did when my kids were little". It makes total sense and takes all the hard work out of feeding a baby. Plus it really is just the lazy mom's method that has gone overlooked. Well except for the cleaning that is. Silas is having so much fun with squash and pears this week, it has been hilarious. I can't wait for avocados and banana's next week. Here is a blog that has put together tons of helpful links to answer any questions you could have:

But here are few things that i'm excited about.

1. I only have to feed Silas what we are already eating...no baby food making or buying.
2. He only eats what he can grab, food is usually no smaller then his fist.
3. Baby's are born with an amazing gag relex so they are able to control very well what goes
down the tube and what doesn't.
4. Breastfeeding is still an important part of his diet.

After!

  2. You explained to him that some of the food is supposed to go in his mouth, right?

  3. Kim, you totally crack me up! You find something with some totally complicated name and funny acronym to go along with it and totally go bananas (excuse the pun) over it! Call me crazy, but isn't it just a totally normal way to feed (and wean) your child?? I guess maybe you're not using a spoon now? Sounds interesting, although I think I'm all for using utensils...
