Update on Eli

First of all I have to post some stuff that has been going on in the last few weeks. Last weekend we went to Salem to visit Aunt Jessie and Uncle Tim, but I will post that after all this. Things have been really busy around here and are just now starting to get a bit more normal. So I wanted to play catch-up with these photos and videos.

Update on the BOY
BED:
Well Eli is doing really well in his big boy bed. He now comes into our room in the morning without us tell him to and he still hasn't fallen out of the bed except for that time he did on the second night. Though I have to admit he is really a stinky kid. His giraffe and his blanky smell like something awful. So when he climbs into bed I get this wiff of sink. I wash them when I can (when he's not looking) but they just smell sooo bad.
POTTY:
Pottying is still going really well. Eli continues to amaze us at his potty skills. He's a lot more aware of his urge to go then ever before. Jeff's had to watch him for the last few days as I had a wedding to do, and he had no accidents. Which he has been doing for awhile, but its nice to know that I can be kinda gone for a few days and Eli still does just as well. He told Jeff NoNee and went to the bathroom all on his own when ever he had to go. Now someone asked me this week "can he pull his pants down and up?" and the answer is no. We still need to help him with that and I think we will for a while. He's just too little and doesn't really have the coordination yet.
FAINTING GOAT:
Some of you know about the fainting goat! This is our hardest struggle right now with him. Whenever we tell him he has to do something or can't do something, or needs to have patience for something, or whatever you can think of, he huffs and growels and walks about 2 steps away and then falls to the ground in any direction letting his body hit whatever is around him. And sometimes even getting hurt. Last night when we told him that we were all done with books and that he needed to lay down, he went sideways in his bed, the first time hitting is head on the metal bar and the second time hitting his head really hard on the wall. Jeff has strongly reverted to immediate Time Outs as soon as one of these happens. I haven't got the will yet to be quite so ambitious. Mostly because he does this like 15 times a day and he's getting heavy and its easier to just walk away and let him wallow on the floor. I thought this week that I would take a few days and really get every one...but we'll see.

Here's some videos and photos. Enjoy.

If you listen closely you can hear a little toot...

This is the set up for Eli's room. We will eventually need to get a new mattress for the brother or sister. But now Eli has more room to play.

Eli likes to put on our shoes.

This was really funny. Eli wanted to take his two cups with him to go potty practice. He was so happy and proud when he put them on both his feet and they stayed.

If you can see, Eli is eating with both utensils. Very productive.

  1. Did I say before that I love, love, love!!! the bedding on his big boy bed?

Talk about a lesson in natural consequences when he throws himself and gets hurt. :( poor boy! It's a phase. It will pass.

As for his pants (up and down), although I hated the book otherwise, Potty Training In Less Than a Day had a method of grabbing front and back (dominate hand in back palm out with a full fist grab, other hand in front palm facing in) that takes much less coordination than trying to pull up from the sides, seems to help get them up and over their little bum a bit more easily. He might still be too young, but you could try to begin teaching that method now if you felt up for it.
