Eli and Si where watching a video about farming and animals and Eli was happily telling Si all about the cows. Soon though Si got a hankering for some blankly and Eli couldn't handle that. So this is what happened.
This is our precious little Soren. He came and visited us for a whole 5 days while his mom and dad went on a long awaited cruise. He was very good, but yet very mischievous. He is that kind of sweet little angle that you would never think would get into any trouble...but then before you can even realize what has happened he has gotten into the grocieries and eaten the sticker off the side of a pear. Yes we did find it "later". He was a whole lot of fun for the boys. Eli enjoyed having someone else who wanted to follow him around and who he could entertain. I don't think that I am ready for 3 kids that is...but very thankful that he was able to be our little adoptive child for a few days.
This is little Pi taking a nap. He fell alseep with is head up on the side of the crib. I have no idea how this could possibley be comfortable.
Soren was Silas's little crawling buddy...Silas tried to keep up but Soren is super fast. So most of the time Silas just watched.
Adventures of Broccoli
This was the first time we gave Silas broccoli. He grabbed it right away with a vengance. Since then has had it 3 more times. He loves to eat all the green bushy stuff off the top and then spit out the rest. Good boy Si...just like momma.

We had so much fun out side one of the days that it was nice. Si was taking a nap and so I took the opportunity to get outside so Eli and Soren could get some fresh air and some playing time. Soren got really muddy because he crawled into the green turtle (which had lots of mud in it) and enjoyed all of Eli's construction vehicles. It was so sad when we had to go inside because Soren cried.
Ok so I have to admit...going against the norm of feeding your baby has been hard. It's hard to do something different and feel encouraged. So tonight I stayed up late to try to get some questions answered and with that I found a great forum.

I have been wanting to revert to the baby puree world...(no judgment of those that do..much love to ya!!! ) mostly because I have questions that I have not found answers for. The forum helped with that. But so far I have seen some pretty amazing things. Silas took a turn this week. We had two weeks of gagging. Sometimes it was funny and sometimes it was not. In the end I learned that kids will gag up whatever does not fit down their throat. I always was afraid of them chocking..but that's not the case anymore (of course we won't give him marbles or mini weenies). They just have the most amazing gag reflex. Silas has eaten avocado, sweet potatoes, bananas, pears, apple and O's. I tried oatmeal the other day and he gagged...so we will try that tomorrow again I think. I was watching a video of a 7 month old eating a whole broccoli stem. So I think tomorrow I'll steam up some broccoli and give it that a try also. Hopefully that will be on video. So the big thing that people keep asking me is "what's the big deal...how is this so different?" Well I say...there's no puree, just whole food. That way babies learn a great deal about texture and taste early so that they are less picky. (And um, no, Uncle Tim,...Silas will not be nursing at 3 years old...your so in trouble for posting that on facebook). FYI...The goal is that by 12 months they are eating happily with the family at all meals and not picky. Here's a good article from the BBC on Baby Led Feeding.

I'm still learning. Some days are harder then others. But Silas is already sleeping better for naps and at night, so I know that he's getting more happiness in his belly. It's way less work too. I mean all I do is throw veggies and fruit on his tray and he goes to town.
For those who are thinking I'm silly for posting all this info...it's also for those who are out their looking for info (like me). Key words are helpful for searching....
Special shouts to Anna...I know your loving this....This video is for you!!(heheh)
Listen closely at the end....

Here's Eli and Jeff getting outside on Friday. Eli loves to go out rain or shine. Usually I send him out and watch from the window. But today daddy was home so he had a friend. Don't be fooled by Jeff's pants...It Was Freezing. The rest of the shots are of Eli's hair from his dino hat. I was laughing for quite some time. I finally patted it down with a wet wash cloth.
So a few milestones have happened for both the boys. Silas is now crawling on all fours, well at least 3-4 crawls and then back on the belly for army crawling. I think he's torn because he can army crawl REALLY fast, but the novelty of crawling on all fours is fun and new. He really is a super star. Plus he cut his first tooth on October 25th...and then on Friday the 31st I looked in there and noticed another one just about to pop. So now we are at two teeth for Silas.
Eli this week has been doing really well. Right now he loves to sing his mighty machine song whenever he is playing with is bulldozers or when he's eating and he thinks he's an excavator. It's very funny to listen to. Mostly though he is just learning to talk more and more. Lot's of words. He's so smart when he read books too because he just starts talking about all the things that are going on in the Richard Scary books. But today was a big day because he counted to 10 twice. He did it for me in the morning and then for Jeff tonight when they were reading books. We were so proud. He also is now no longer needing diapers at naps. I know that it's been a convenience thing for him to just go in his diaper when he wakes up...so I just thought that I would let him decide when he was ready. There are enough battles to pick with him as a 2 year old. So I'm glad that he is now past that. I forgot to mention also that Si is saying Mama and Dada...not really knowing what he's saying, but definitely saying it when he's sad I leave if he thought we were going to nurse (don't worry I come back). And loves to say Dada all morning long..especially when he wakes up and Jeff is around. So precious. He is growing up twice as fast as Eli.
I'm tempted with the idea of putting them in the same room...is there anyone out there who's been gutsy with this and done it?? And if so do you have any suggestions??
This was his protest of having to wear his costume. Jeff told me just to take it off. I was about to take it off but he got up and got distracted. And yes he WAS crying in this photo.
